Chini Museum

WHY VISIT IT
It is not possible to talk about Art Nouveau without thinking of Galileo Chini, the artist who must be considered the first and most complete Italian interpreter of the spirit of artistic renewal that crossed Europe at the end of the 19th century. Painter, decorator, ceramist, graphic designer and scenographer always ready to update his artistic language. This museum is dedicated to Galileo and the artists of the Chini family.

THE MUSEUM
The Museo della Manifattura Chini, now Chini Museum, was inaugurated in 1999 and currently recognized with the status of a museum of regional importance.
The museum traces the artistic journey of Galileo Chini and his family, originate from Borgo San Lorenzo, particularly focusing on the artistic manufactories specialized in ceramic production, established by Galileo Chini first in Florence in 1896 (Arte della Ceramica) and then in Borgo San Lorenzo in 1906 (Fornaci San Lorenzo).
The visit path unfolds inside the villa Pecori Giraldi decorated, starting from the mid-19th century, by the same artists of the Chini family.
