The home of Giotto

WHY VISIT IT
The Giotto House Museum, located on the enchanting hill of Vespignano, is an ancient building that welcomes visitors today as a space for artistic experience and creativity. From here, you can still admire the same breathtaking view of the Tuscan countryside that once inspired Giotto himself.

THE MUSEUM
Giotto’s House is without doubt one of the most fascinating stops on a journey through Vicchio. Nestled in the countryside below the Church of San Martino, this medieval noble residence has been transformed several times over the centuries. After an important restoration in 1840, additional changes at the end of the century added stone-framed windows and a Gothic-style entrance. Severely damaged by the 1919 earthquake, the house was finally restored in 1967. A more recent renovation in 2002 improved both the structure and the museum layout, opening the way to new cultural experiences and visitor itineraries.
