Museum of pietra serena

WHY VISIT IT
‘Tradition does not mean worshiping the ashes, but guarding the fire’: visiting the Stone Museum means retracing the history and tradition of the people of this corner of Romagna-Toscana, an immersive experience under the 16th century fortress, to rediscover the secrets of the master stonemasons.

THE MUSEUM
The Museum tells the story of the extraction and processing of Pietra Serena (stone) di Firenzuola and develops beneath the sixteenth-century walls of Antonio da Sangallo. The museum itinerary is divided into a series of thematic spaces: from the new stonemason school to traditional extraction techniques; from the daily use of the stone to the finished product. The guided visit ends at the cannon room of the Firenzuola fortress and the climb to the castle's walkway.
