Museum of sacred art and popular religiosiousness ‘Beato Angelico’

WHY VISIT IT
The Beato Angelico Museum hosts valuable artworks by famous artists such as Cosimo Rosselli, Francesco Furini, Massimiliano Soldani Benzi, Clemente Susini, Ignazio Hugford, just to name a few, and connects them, in a thematic arrangement, to objects of devotion to their territory and their ancient cultural fabric. Visiting the museum offers the visitor both the aesthetic value of the artistic objects but also the possibility of grasping the multiplicity of social and historical aspects in which they were generated and then handed down.

THE MUSEUM
The Museum houses a collection of precious works of art, coming from the churches of Mugello. The works of art are inserted by nucleus of origin within a thematic itinerary that starts from the introductory environment where a concentrated variety of works opens the themes covered in the subsequent spaces. The precious processional crosses from the churches of Olmi and Vicchio, placed next to a simple wooden rogational cross, show the various aspects of devotion and at the same time the richness of the liturgical heritage of Mugello, a heritage for a long time considered somehow " minor”, but which in reality lists objects of extraordinary refinement and workmanship, examples of the variety and diffusion of the artistic heritage in the area and at the same time of its dispersion.
