WHY VISIT IT
\nThe Archaeological Site of Frascole<\/span>, the only Etruscan area open to the public in the Mugello and Val di Sieve region, is set in a natural landscape of extraordinary beauty. Perched on a hilltop and surrounded by cypress and centuries-old oak trees, it overlooks the surrounding valleys, offering truly breathtaking views. During the summer months, it also hosts the cultural festival Estate Frascolana<\/em>.\u00a0<\/i><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

THE ARCHAEOLOGICAL RUINS
\n<\/span>Within the site, alongside the remains of the small church of San Martino dating back to the mid-13th century, visitors can admire the ruins of an imposing Etruscan building, dating from the late 4th to the early 3rd century BC, most likely a defensive structure. Scholars believe it may have been a fortified residence belonging to a prominent rural family, though it could also have served as a large temple.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Recent excavations have also brought to light even older structures, while additional rooms visible around the Etruscan walls suggest the presence of a much larger settlement\u2014still waiting to be fully uncovered.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>
